On September 5, 2023, MyCIL’s Transitional Skills Center (TSC) officially launched its newest venture TSC Is Spreading Petals.
The Petals for Goodness Sake team selected MyCIL’s TSC to take over the reins and continue the mission of this important non-profit organization.
Upcycling Flowers, Blooming Skills
TSC students upcycle donated large flower arrangements into smaller ones, then deliver them to assisted living facilities and hospitals to provide cheer to those who need it the most. Throughout the process, these young adults with disabilities are getting the chance to showcase their creativity while gaining on-the-job training and developing entrepreneurial skills.

Not only are TSC students developing key job skills, but they are also practicing important soft skills. When they drop off their completed arrangements, they interact with the staff of these facilities as well as the flower recipients themselves.

Seeing the positive impact they can make in the lives of others boosts their self-confidence while fostering a greater sense of self-worth. It is a win-win for everyone involved in the process!
How You Can Help
Our non-profit is always in need of donated flowers. If you’d like to donate the flowers after a wedding, memorial service, or other large event, please drop them off during our regular business hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at 530 Electric Street in Scranton, PA.
