Independent Living Skills for Teens With Disabilities
Serving Northeastern PA School Districts
As the only facility of its kind in the area, we offer simulated life settings for developing practical skills. Students progress through a series of activities designed for their abilities and goals.
The key is building on the skills they developed. Our Transitional Skills Program offers flexibility and on-going growth, customized for each student.
At the end of the program, students have the soft skills they need to get and keep employment. They also have a clearer insight into their future career options.
Our Independent Living for Young Adults Program
How We Started
As a Center for Independent Living, MyCIL provides five core independent living services. The Transitional Services we provide is through our Transitional Skills Center.
MyCIL saw how our independent living services empowered those in our region with disabilities — and we wanted to do the same for the young adults in our community.

Thank You Fidelity Bank for Donating $10,000 to MyCIL’s Transitional Skills Center!
On Jan. 7, 2019, Joseph S. Tomko, Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager of Fidelity Bank, presented the staff and participants of the Transitional Skills Center with a $10,000 donation check.
The money will support the programing of this state-of-the-art facility where students with different disabilities develop the skills they need to reach their independent living goals. Part of MyCIL (Northeast PA Center for Independent Living), the Transitional Skills Center features comprehensive and customized programming that includes community-based learning experiences, recreation and wellness, group facilitation and more.

MyCIL has proven time and again to be a valuable resource and information clearinghouse on matters related to disability awareness, acceptance, and accommodation.
The friendly ACES$ staff always responds promptly to our questions and treats us with courtesy and respect.
We particularly like how MyCIL’s professionals have come up with special projects that allow these kids to get involved in the community and become contributing members of society.
