The video of Alia Sedlacek teaching Disney characters how to sign went viral — and for good reason. Watching Mickey, princesses and other fan favorites learn ASL signs is a perfect example of inclusion in action.
A Magical Surprise
When Sedlacek visited Disney World for her birthday, she told Minnie about her intent to teach Mickey sign language. Minnie took her straight to Mickey, who proceeded to surprise Sedlacek with his sign language skills.
Welcoming Guests of All Hearing Abilities
Sedlacek, a student in the Disney College Program at Disney World who is hard-of-hearing, uses sign language to welcome guests at the park as well. She takes pride in helping merge the two communities together in the perfect setting: the most magical place on Earth.
