The Wayfaring Band, a Colorado-based disability inclusive organization, offers travel experiences for both people with and without developmental and intellectual disabilities. All year long the Wayfaring Band has adventures that span the gamut from cliff jumping in a Puerto Rican rainforest to sledding in the snowcapped Rocky Mountains.

All adults our welcome in The Wayfaring Band, including those with developmental disabilities, caregivers, activists, neurotypical leadership fellows. Leadership fellows benefit from participating in their daily disability curriculum while travelers with disabilities have the opportunity to practice independent living skills. Each tour includes trained staff members to ensure a safe space for all band members to grow and explore.
More Than Just Travel Experiences
While adventure and travel are at its core, The Wayfaring Band offers more to each person on their tours. Capped at 16 travelers per group, all members of the band experience the same experiences that also include social bonding time as well as a vigorous social leadership program that increases life and leadership skills.

During the evenings on tour, the band strengthens bonds while educating on disability rights through its curriculum on accessibility. The daily curriculum covers ableism, anti-racism, inclusion, accessibility and more. They incorporate their real-world experiences from the day, whether it was a challenge with an inaccessible building or a rude person.
Not only do the members of the Wayfaring Band experience personal growth, they also engage with people on their tours, educating on how to be better allies to the disability community.
