Learn Interactively

Commercial and residential kitchens, laundry area, mock warehouse and grocery store with working register and more…it’s all at MyCIL’s state-of-the-art TSC.

In our simulated settings of real-life experiences, students develop skills before they practice them in our community. From learning kitchen safety and working a commercial dishwasher to stocking shelves and folding clothes, they’re getting a wide range of skills they need to achieve independent living and meaningful employment. It’s interactive experiential learning that hones in on skill development.

Use Skills in Our Community

At least 2 days each week performing job ready tasks with local businesses…the exact type of practice they need.

With MyCIL’s TSC, students get the opportunity to take the skills they’ve been working on into our community and put them into good use. Through TSC Is Spreading Petals, they’re engaging with residents and staff members of senior living communities, teaching residents flower arrangement or delivering the arrangements they made. We also partner with various local businesses. Students perform specific job tasks while building soft skills and connections with potential employers.

Form Lasting Friendships

Spending time with peers while skill-building and practicing in the real world…a great way to change an isolated student into a peer-supported one.

Students develop real connections with friends who have similar goals, challenges, and interests. As they work together in our mock life settings, developing independent living skills, and spend time in the community together practicing those skills, they’re bonding through experience. But don’t take our word for it! Hear what actual TSC students have to say about how their social lives have improved since starting in our program.

Before I came here, I struggled with basic things like doing the laundry, cooking meals … by me coming here I was able to gain those skills.

I love MyCIL’s TSC because it’s a place I can naturally come to and learn the skills that I’m sort of iffy with. And I can learn how to be independent.
